An arrow slit in the wall. A Poem

via Daily Prompt: Loophole

I found a loophole in his set of rules

An inadequacy in his law

I took out my bag of tools

And sharpened my talon claws

I searched through his rule book

Wadded through every page

Looking for a clause

To get a greater wage

I found an aperture

An arrow slit in the wall

I could see what he was up to

He was going to let me fall

I presented him his rule book

Outlining the clause in mind

Mentioned I knew his plan

That it wasn’t very kind

I forgave him for his secrets

And plans he hid from me

And walked away with thanks

Knowing I had set me free
