via Daily Prompt: Branch

He reached down to talk to me

he says he’s full and laden

his branch can take no more for thee

“I beg you please, fair maiden”

“A source of nutriment I give you now

and sustenance be my gift

the richness of life with little fare

‘ere storm and I do tiff”

“I sense gale and I be quarrelsome soon

before evening, we’ll go awry

take my bough of fruit, Oh please

leave me bare”, he sighs

When fruit trees are fully laden at this time of year, the wind and rain can wreck havoc, breaking branches and sometimes tear out the trees roots. It is helpful to pick the fruit to free the tree of weight.

Poem dedicated to my fruit trees from a tree hugger…:)
