Daily Prompt: Awkward

He waxed lyrical across the table
a glint of pleasure in his eye
Whaling stories of travel wounds
in foreign hospitals gone wry

An explorer of worlds
yet lonely he be
slurping coffee can’t hide
no family to share had he

Grasping life by the hand
there’s sadness in his smile
Of journeys not yet taken
And time running by

It was awkward in the ‘fore
yet confidence I had
with great coffee to endure
I said yes to this lad

A travel companion
I agreed to be
to face my fears
leave comfort, to be free

We’ll wax lyrical across the table
glints of joy in our eyes
Whaling stories of travel wounds
in foreign countries we’d ply

Eventually there will be a trail from North to South. You’ll be able to ride some if it when you get here ๐Ÿ™ƒ. Also, who just likes posts and not read them or am I abit duh๐Ÿค”.

      1. That sounds awfully exciting — and exotic. I’ve traveled a bit. My ex was a travel agent, and she dragged me all over creation– mostly the Caribbean, Mexico, and Hawaii, but the most special trips for me were to England. I got tired of all the traveling. Now I’m with wife #2 who isn’t much of a traveler, and I do think about wanting to go places again. So I went from one extreme to the other. ๐Ÿ™‚
